I’ve been studying Les Brown lately. He’s the man. The above video is for anyone that could use a little boost. The text below is my summary of the video for you to skim through if you’re in a rush. Enjoy!
1. Have Faith
Paul said “You must have the faith to call fourth those things that be not as though they were.” Don’t judge your circumstances and the possibilities for your future based on what you have now. If youre going through hard times is has not come to stay, it has come to pass.
2. Positive Self Talk
I love this affirmation: “No matter how bad it is, or how bad it gets, I’m going to make it”. Say it daily.
3. Have Patience and Engage in Consistent Action
Not everything happens quickly. Les tells a great story of the Chinese Bamboo Tree. It’s a tree that requires 5 years of consistent daily watering before it will even sprout. If you miss a day of watering it, it dies and failed to become a tree. But, after that 5 years, the tree can grow 90 feet in six weeks. The story is analogous to life because it was the daily nurturing and attention that, while it seemed to be doing nothing, created deep changes that allowed for rapid growth.
4. Take Responsibility
You’ve got to make it happen! You are the determining factor of your life. Write down your goals, surround yourself with positive influences, and do whatever it takes. “The people that make it in this world look around for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, they create them.” It’s hard, but it’s worth it!
